WHO DO I WORK WITH:

I work with adults, providing individual and couples therapy, addressing mental health and relationship concerns. Individuals with whom I work must be located in Ohio (due to Ohio licensing requirements).

SPECIALTY POPULATIONS:

-- I am very passionate about working with individuals in the LGBTQI community.

-- Survivors of religious trauma, desiring to process their experience and/or address moving forward, also known as reconstruction.

-- Individuals addressing chronic health/pain conditions.

-- Older adults: facing changes, exploring meaning and purpose in the “golden years" and death and dying.

HOW I APPROACH MY WORK:

Over the years, my practice has shown me that we are all unique and that a "cookie cutter" appproach is not effective. My work as a therapist is best described as eclectic and employs a variety of therapies and approaches, including, but not limited to:

Psychodynamic Therapy

This approach explores past experiences, thoughts and emotions to understand how they shape current behaviors and mental health issues like, depression & anxiety, as well as their impact on your relationships. This therapy approach helps increase awareness, gain self-insight, improve relationships and resolve underlying conflicts.

EMDR

Eye Movement Desensitization & Reprocessing (EMDR) is a neurologically based therapy that originally focused on assisting victims of significant trauma We have learned that its effectiveness goes well beyond trauma. Through the use of bi-lateral stimulation (which can be accomplished in the virtual setting), individuals can be assisted in addressing many types of issues.

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy

This model hypothesizes that people's thoughts and feelings are not determined by a situation, but by their interpretation and construction of the situation. It is based on the premise that core beliefs trigger automatic thoughts which can evoke emotions, which then often lead to unwanted behaviors.
